| Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcite or dolomite. It is formed by the accumulation of materials settling in marine basins and becoming compacted over millions of years. Limestone is the stone in which both Travertine and Marble stem. However, unlike those stones limestone is most often used in its tumbled or honed form due to the fact that is does not readily accept a polish. Among the many uses of Limestone include floors, countertops and fireplace surrounds. |
